Frequently Asked Questions
What does a residential interior designer actually do?
Think of us as your design strategist, style translator, and project quarterback. We help you define your vision, plan your space, and make intentional design decisions that bring beauty and function to your home. From floor plans to final flourishes—we handle the details so you don’t have to Google “how high should my pendant lights hang?” at 11 p.m.
Why should I hire an interior designer for my home?
Interior design isn’t just about picking pretty pillows (although we do love a good textile moment). It’s about solving problems before they happen, making your space feel like you, and increasing the long-term value of your home. We help you save time, avoid costly mistakes, and make confident decisions. Less stress, more style.
What’s the difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator?
A designer handles space planning, layouts, construction details, and custom solutions—often working hand-in-hand with architects and contractors. A decorator focuses more on color palettes, furniture, and finishes. Both are valuable, but if your project involves walls moving or permits, we’re your people.
How much does interior design cost?
Ah, the million-dollar question (don’t worry—it won’t cost that much). We offer flexible options from Designer for a Day services to full-service design packages. Every project is unique, so let’s chat about your goals and we’ll create a proposal that aligns with your scope, budget, and timeline.
What does your design process look like?
We kick things off with a Discovery Call, followed by an in-person consultation to get to know you, your space and your vision. From there, we move into concepts, sourcing, and selections, and guide you through to the final installation. It's a highly personalized experience—and yes, you will definitely get a mood board or two.
How long does a typical project take?
Design isn’t a race—it’s more of a curated journey. Smaller styling projects can take 4–6 weeks, while full-scale renovations or custom builds may take several months. The best spaces are never rushed, but we’re excellent at managing timelines so you’re not stuck in “in-progress” limbo.
Do I need a huge budget to work with you?
Not at all. We work with clients who want to be intentional about their investments—whether that means a phased approach or full-service luxury design. The key is transparency, trust, and prioritizing what will have the most impact in your space.
Can you work with my existing furniture or heirloom pieces?
Absolutely. We love a good design challenge—and reimagining pieces with personal history adds soul to a space. We’ll help you figure out what stays, what gets a refresh, and what needs to retire gracefully.
Do you work with contractors and builders?
Yes! We collaborate closely with trades, builders, and architects to make sure design decisions align with construction realities. Already have a team? Great—we’re happy to integrate. Need referrals? We know the good ones.
I don’t know my design style. Can you help me figure it out?
Of course. That’s what we’re here for. Through visuals, conversations and a little design matchmaking, we help you define your style—even if you only know what you don’t like. (Looking at you, faux Tuscan columns.)
What types of projects do you take on?
We specialize in custom residential interiors—everything from full-home renovations and new builds to kitchen remodels and elevated room refreshes. If it’s a space you live in, we can help you love it more.
Do you offer virtual or remote interior design services?
Yes! For clients outside our region or those looking for a lighter touch, we offer Distance Design and virtual consultations. All the style, none of the commute or travel fees.
How do I get started?
Start by booking a Discovery Call—it’s complimentary, easy and gives us a chance to learn more about your project. From there, we’ll map out your design plan, answer questions, and figure out if we’re the right fit to bring your dream space to life.
